Am I A Good Candidate for the Sciton HALO?

Our Sciton HALO treatment in St. Petersburg, FL covers many different skin concerns and complaints. The HALO is a state-of-the-art device because of its range of skin treatments. Patients who may be especially interested in the Sciton HALO treatment may have irritating and visible vascular lesions, patches of sun damage and/or pigmentation, and rough or uneven skin textures. This treatment is also effective for every shade of skin tone, so no matter your skin depth, you can qualify for this treatment.

How does the Sciton HALO work?

You will be escorted to a private treatment room after your initial consultation. This resurfacing treatment combines two different wavelengths into one. The first laser targets the top portion of your skin with a fractional ablative technology that targets sun damage and pigmentation. The second wavelength targets the dermis, the lower layer of your skin, to rejuvenate your skin from the bottom up. This portion of the treatment addresses fine lines, wrinkles, texture, and other visible signs of aging. The Sciton HALO has a built-in cooling feature that keeps you comfortable and virtually pain-free for the length of the treatment. This treatment, when compared to other treatments, addresses deeper layers of the skin and helps to resolve sun damage more than competing laser treatments. Talk to your provider at St. Petersburg Center for Plastic Surgery to learn more about this treatment and discuss a treatment plan that is tailored to you.

Sciton HALO FAQ

How many treatments will I need?
On average, patients see results with the Sciton HALO quickly. That said, some patients may only need one treatment. Usually, two treatments are ideal initially, with annual touch-up treatments available to patients who wish for a refresh to their results.

What results can I expect?
HALO is a complete skin revitalization laser treatment. You will see overall improvements in your skin including a reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, reduced pore size, improved skin reflectivity and glow, and significant removal of discoloration.

What happens during the treatment?
Thirty minutes to an hour before the treatment your clinician may place a topical anesthetic on your skin to reduce the sensation during the procedure. The area will be measured with motion tracking technology to ensure the area is treated evenly. Your clinician will treat each measured area by uniformly rolling the HALO handpiece over your skin until the system recognizes the treatment is complete.

Does the Sciton HALO hurt?
Most of our St. Petersburg, FL patients do not complain about this treatment. In addition, we can offer a high-grade topical anesthetic to offset any discomfort during the treatment. Most patients describe the treatment as a feeling of heat with occasional prickling sensations, but are generally comfortable. After the treatment, most patients will continue to feel warm for an additional 15 to 30 minutes, or a bit longer with deeper treatment levels. You can discuss any other concerns about pain with your provider in your consultation.

How soon after my treatment can I return to normal activities?
For the first 24 hours you should keep your skin protected according to your clinician's instructions, but after that you should be able to go about your normal activities. After the first 24 hours, your skin will begin to peel, but you be able to put on makeup. For a facial treatment, you will see very little change on the first day. After two to three days you will develop a light bronzing appearance. By day three or four your skin will peel, revealing your new skin beneath.

When will I see results?
You will see initial results between two and five days after your HALO treatment, but your skin will continue to improve over time. Most patients see the greatest pigmentary improvement in the first two to three weeks. This is followed by a dermal regeneration phase that continues to improve for months.

How long will my results last?
HALO results will last for years to come, but you should continue to keep your skin protected at all times using UV sunscreen to protect your new, healthy skin. Each additional HALO treatment you get will only improve the results, giving you even better looking skin.

How much does it cost?
Because of the different treatment areas that the Sciton HALO can treat, the cost can vary. This treatment can be used on any body part. In addition, many patients choose multiple treatment areas for the same session, which can create an individualized treatment and cost plan.
