10/10 Recommend.I had such a wonderful surgical experience with Dr. O'Bien and his staff. I was referred to his practice by two of my own friends who also went to him for breast augmentations. After seeing their results, my interest was piqued. I was interested in getting subfascially placed implants, because of their natural appearance. Not all surgeons offer it. But Dr. O'Brien is versed in the technique and has 30+ years of experience performing breast augmentations across the board. He took into account my desired outcome and matched it to reality; he also considers the operating room nurses' input--which was very comforting to me, because he's not just pushing forward with a cookie cutter augmentation; the nurses are there to advocate for the patient. I did not want a big, round breast. I had very little breast to begin with, so I just wanted breasts that fit my frame. And although, he informed me that many of his patients have expressed their desire to have gone bigger in the past, he did not push that on me. While on the operating table, he and his staff use sizers to visualize the result before deciding which implant to use. I was told that they visualized up to 350cc, but decided against them and went down to 300cc because they understood my desired outcome. They also had available to them a wide range of implant sizes specifically ordered for my operation, just to cater to my desired outcome. That being said. I am so fully pleased with the size that they chose. I went with Motiva Ergonomix implants. They are a newer implant available on the market. They move and feel like real breast tissue.I also experienced ZERO pain in my recovery. My incisions were beautifully approximated; I do not expect my scars to be visible. Dr. O'Brien is meticulous and has his technique down-pat. He offer resources and education to reduce scarring.Miss Michelle, who took care of scheduling and payment, is an absolute joy. She got me in promptly when an opening became available. She is so personable and made the whole administrative process hassle free. She took into account my timeline, little personal details, and was very responsive.Miss Ana is the nurse on staff that saw me through the entire process--from beginning to end, from initial consultation to operating day to follow-up appointments. I felt so safe with her. She is such a great liaison between patient and surgeon. Any of my concerns that I had along the way, she validated and mitigated. Each of my many emails, she responded. Knowledgable and relatable, I don't think this would have been possible without her.And then of course Dr. O'Brien. He's really good at what he does. He comes with a vast experience, and still treats each patient individually. His work is clean and he gave me a beautiful result. More

The doctor took his time - provided background to his education, experience, and gave real issues that he has come across throughout his career. He is patient, and explains everything in plain language trying to fully understand the patient, their requests or visions and applying them to what is possible in modern medicine. At the end of my initial consultation, I was invited to see and tour his entire facility including the onsite operating room, recovery room and anything else I wanted to see for myself to establish full trust that once I became a patient - I would be in good hands with no area off limits to see where my experiences would take place. This type of open invitation provided comfort in knowing when I was under medication provided by an anesthesiologist, I would have already seen where everything would take place and have the comfort of familiarity. I would highly recommend this doctor and his practice for any type of plastic surgery that he offers. Although, I had a hiccup in my recovery and contracted an infection while not in the surgeon's care, he was with me every step of the way to ensure I not only recovered but also, came out stronger than before. I had some major procedures, so my full recovery will take time - I am confident Dr O'Brien and his staff will remain by my side during the complete journey. I will continue to go back for additional less difficult procedures for years to come! More

Liposuction - This was a second procedure with Dr Obrien. He and staff are excellent. I would just like to mention for anyone who has Fibromyalgia, that this procedure caused a lot of residual nerve pain and has taken a long time to subside. I still experience some pain after 7 months. I had some loose skin after the procedure due to having lost a lot of weight. It may take another procedure to get rid of the flabby skin. I am satisfied with what was done and recommend Dr O'brien. He is very caring and has a great bedside manner. More

23 year old saline implants - Better than expected - I had searched for years in considering changing out my 23 year old saline implants that I had no problems with except some minor distortion on one side and a desire to have them closer. I was told by everyone it couldn’t be done. I stumbled across Dr OBrien by chance because I was interested in sientra implants and no many used them. I met him and loved that I did not long for any information. He told be 500 more things that I wouldn’t have thought to ask but was glad I knew. He made no promises but was willing to try to help me achieve my goals. Upon first seeing myself without the wrap, both of my problems were resolved and they were so much closer. Not knowing a single person who went to him, I made the best decision to trust him. He was hands on through the whole process. From my consultation, when he came to get me out of the waiting room to the day of surgery when he helped me get up on the OR table and helped position me himself. Wow!!! What doctor does that. 5 stars is definitely not enough for such an amazing surgery center. I cannot stress how happy I am with my decision to go with Dr. O’Brien for my breast augmentation!! I had met with many other plastic surgeons and each and everyone of them seemed very self-absorbed and would tell me exactly what they had planned for my breasts without even asking me FIRST what I would like and I was not a fan of that. Before making my consultation, I spoke a lot on the phone and emailed back and forth with Erin Blackburn, who is an absolute sweetheart, and she helped me out by answering all the questions I had for her. They fit me in for a consultation fairly quick, compared to other surgeons in the area, and I fell in love with the atmosphere! Not only was Dr. O’Brien very helpful in answering my surgery-related questions, but he genuinely wanted to know what I wanted so that he could provide that for me. He informed me of many different approaches to breast augmentations and explained to me the pros and cons of each one and told me his opinion on how I should proceed but also encouraged me to research on my own since it is a decision that affects MY body and not his. I felt heard when so speaking with him. He was not self-absorbed AT ALL, which is rare in surgeons. Not only was he amazing, but so is his staff! Everyone is so nice and welcoming and makes you feel and more excited about your upcoming procedure. They respond so quickly and are always on top of everything. One other thing that I liked about this location is that they accept Care Credit- for the deposit AND the surgery itself, which definitely helps a lot financially. I just recently got my breast augmentation done by Dr. O’Brien and the day I saw the results, I was in shock. They were everything I had ever wanted and more. I could not be happier with the results! - John O’Brien performed my breast reduction on March 4th, 2021, and I could not be happier with the results!! I have wanted this surgery for years, and I am so glad I went through with O’Briens team! It’s such an intimate procedure, but I felt comfortable immediately after waking into The St. Petersburg Center for Plastic surgery. I had giant breasts, measuring around a 34 H/I. I was so uncomfortable both physically, and from the stares my chest attracted on my 5 foot 4, 140 pound frame. I had daily shoulder pain and I had to special order my bras (which always left huge indents in my skin). The scaring in so minimal considering what was done and removing all the stretch marks and rolls of fat and skin I expected a scar. Sientra Opus Implants - 32A to 32DD/32DDD - 47 years old 121lbs - I wanted to share my story and experience with my breast augmentation in the hope it will help others make an informed decision about whether or not to go ahead with it. I was never a busty lady even when I was significantly overweight. Having lost about 45lbs over the years, my chest pretty much disappeared.... I actually waited a few years to make sure my weight remained stable and after 2.5 years, I decided to go ahead and get the surgery. I am very detail orientated, did a lot of research into different implant types etc. and decided to use Dr. John J. O'Brien here in St. Petersburg based on reviews, and website photos. I was very specific about the types of implants I wanted - Sientra gummy bear implants - and he was one of the only surgeons in the area that worked with this brand. The scaring in so minimal considering what was done and removing all the stretch marks and rolls of fat and skin I expected a scar. Dr. O'Brien put the scar far enough below the belly button that it is easily covered by bikini cut clothing. The staff is very friendly and considerate. They talk to me and welcome me by name. The surgery was remarkably easy and they advised, anticipated and made sure I had as pain free a recovery as was possible. I definitely recommend Dr O'Brien for anyone desiring to look and feel better about yourself. To feel confident in your clothes and to feel better about yourself when you look in your mirror. More

Why recreate the wheel, see the 5 star reviews, I agree with them all. I had another procedure done from another surgeon and Dr OBrien more that topped the other. Im very happy with the outcome of my procedures and wouldnt hesitate to go back to Dr OBrien. I will always have the legacy of being the only patient that drove himself to his post op the next day. 5 stars is definitely not enough for such an amazing surgery center. I cannot stress how happy I am with my decision to go with Dr. O’Brien for my breast augmentation!! I had met with many other plastic surgeons and each and everyone of them seemed very self-absorbed and would tell me exactly what they had planned for my breasts without even asking me FIRST what I would like and I was not a fan of that. Before making my consultation, I spoke a lot on the phone and emailed back and forth with Erin Blackburn, who is an absolute sweetheart, and she helped me out by answering all the questions I had for her. They fit me in for a consultation fairly quick, compared to other surgeons in the area, and I fell in love with the atmosphere! Not only was Dr. O’Brien very helpful in answering my surgery-related questions, but he genuinely wanted to know what I wanted so that he could provide that for me. He informed me of many different approaches to breast augmentations and explained to me the pros and cons of each one and told me his opinion on how I should proceed but also encouraged me to research on my own since it is a decision that affects MY body and not his. I felt heard when so speaking with him. He was not self-absorbed AT ALL, which is rare in surgeons. Not only was he amazing, but so is his staff! Everyone is so nice and welcoming and makes you feel and more excited about your upcoming procedure. They respond so quickly and are always on top of everything. One other thing that I liked about this location is that they accept Care Credit- for the deposit AND the surgery itself, which definitely helps a lot financially. I just recently got my breast augmentation done by Dr. O’Brien and the day I saw the results, I was in shock. They were everything I had ever wanted and more. Most people don’t like the look of their breasts directly after surgery because it takes a few weeks to a few months for the breasts to fall and look more natural, but I loved them a day after.. so I can’t even imagine how much I’ll love them in a few more weeks or months. I just want to thank Dr. O’Brien and his staff once again for giving me a wonderful experience and a pair of tatas that I will love forever!!
